Emily Kirsch is a transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary emerging visual artist residing in Victoria, British Columbia. Kirsch graduates from the University of Victoria this spring with two degrees, a BA in history and a BFA in visual arts with honours.

Her work is predominantly comprised of large scale photographs and tapestries inspired by my special interest in scientific hobby practices. Pulling colours (and occasionally dead bugs) from urban and ‘wild’ outdoor environments, she collects colours and imagery. She then process these elements through experimentation and a working set of rules particular to that series and material. With this method she is able to create a clear visual language that is the result of both intuition and personal aesthetic rules.
